As part of the North Bridge commitment to music education, we are proud to present you with an online community that will house a growing program of free educational materials. NBFA has been established as a one stop solution for aspiring flute players of all ages. Feel free to watch our videos, play along with professional piano tracks, or just browse around. If there is something special you would like to see, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Around the globe, there are numerous systems in place, such as ABRSM (the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and Trinity Exams (London), for gauging and assessing the progress of flute players. These are very precise and thorough methods for charting progress, with each new grade becoming progressively more demanding and challenging.
Based on repertoire available from the above examining systems, the NBFA is designed to give flute players (and in particular those ‘stepping up’ from beginner instruments) a clear impression of how far they have travelled on their musical journeys - - and what the next steps and long-term future hold for them.
To assist you on your journey, we have added the following materials to the NBFA:
• Video recordings (by GRADE) of world-renown flutist Paul Edmund-Davies, and London Symphony pianist John Alley
• “Play along” piano tracks (performed by John Alley)
• Teaching and practice notes
Please stay up to date by “liking” our Facebook page. Our goal is to gradually record the entire catalog of flute pieces from the Trinity system.
And when you are ready to move on to more complicated pieces, go to SimplyFlute.com!
